What are custom-made sports orthotics?
Custom-made sports orthotics are medical devices that
allow the feet and ankles to function without pain, and
to protect them from the repetitive stress of sports
activities; or from just normal walking. They are
designed and made from molds of your feet, constructed
with comfortable "space age" materials.
Each sport applies intense and abnormal weight and
stress to specific areas of the feet and ankles; these
parts are not constructed to bear these abnormal forces.
The result can be fatigue, pain, loss of efficiency, or all three.
Our custom made Sports Orthotics will protect the stressed areas, and re-distribute the abnormal weight to the entire foot. Sports Orthotics can
increase efficiency, allowing you to be a better
athlete; and reduce fatigue so you can participate in
your sport for longer periods of time.
More importantly by making the correct
accommodations for internal foot abnormalities,
redirecting weight and stress, and supporting and
stabilizing the feet and ankles, your pain will disappear.
As athletes improve performance and maximize efficiency, they rely more and more on sports medicine to surpass their performance thresholds. Sports medicine is focusing on biomechanics, proprioception and kinesthetic awareness to prevent and
treat lower extremity injuries. Custom foot orthoses are
increasingly making their way on to professional and
recreational playing fields. We should know we treat
professional athletes all over the country.

Wearing in Sports Orthotics
It may take a few days for your feet to become
accustomed to the sport orthotics. We suggest
that you initially wear your sports orthotics for
walking. And then gradually introduce the
orthotics into your training program. |
 |
Types of sports orthotics include:
Rigid Orthotics
Rigid orthotics are used to control motion in two major foot joints that lie directly below the ankle. They are often used to prevent excessive pronation (the turning in of the foot) and are useful for people who are very overweight or have uneven leg lengths.
Soft Orthotics
Soft orthotics are designed to absorb shock, improve balance, and remove pressure from painful areas. They are made from lightweight material and are often beneficial for people with diabetes or arthritis.
Semi-Rigid Orthotics
Semi-rigid orthotics are designed to provide balance,
often for a specific sport. They are typically made of
layers of leather and cork reinforced by silastic.

PORON XRD protection has been specially designed to utilize the natural behavior of polymers to its advantage. It exploits the phenomenon that polymers can act as either a soft or hard (firm)
material dependent on either temperature or the rate of impact.
In the case of PORON XRD protection, at room temperature or
'at rest', it is soft and contouring to the touch.
But when impacted, the material behaves like a much firmer
material, allowing it to readily absorb the energy of an impact.
Thus PORON XRD material acts as a layer of wearable
protection. It is soft to the touch, lightweight, contouring,
and testing confirms that it absorbs more than 90 percent
of energy upon repeated impact.
Because it is lightweight and flexible, like a "second skin, PORON XRD protection will not
constrict freedom of movement or range of motion, allowing athletes to achieve their peak performance level.

The Best Repeated Impact Absorption Material
- Soft and contouring against the body, yet instantly dissipates force upon impact
- Absorbs more than 90% of energy when impacted at high strain rates
- Maintains performance beyond the life of the product
- Consistent repeated impact absorption
- Excellent compression-set resistance
Absorbs more than 90% of energy when impacted at high strain rates

Wearable Protection
- Allows for ease of movement and range of motion
- Low profile: available in variety of thickness (1mm – 19mm)
- Light weight: as low as 9 pcf density
- Drapable material with a “second skin” feeling
- Soft and flexible to the touch
- Contouring
- Breathable
- Easily fabricated to suit a variety of applications and placements
Suitable for a wide range of sports
